By the community, for the community
Co-op has always done things differently, and that's a direct result of our co-operative business model: we are owned by our members.
Built by the community to build the community, our members-owners are the people we serve – and it’s easy to become a member. When Co-op members shop at their Co-op, they’re supporting the business they own. It’s a cycle of support that benefits their local Co-op, their communities – and them as individuals.
Truly local
Because Co-op is owned by people who live in the community, it’s truly local in a way that other businesses simply can't be.
We are committed to supporting local businesses. Co-op works with local farmers, ranchers and producers to source many of the items you can find on the shelves of your local Co-ops.
Deep roots
When people were banding together to start co-operatives in the early twentieth century, they were doing so because they knew that they could accomplish more through collective effort. And when Co-op member-owners shopped at their Co-ops, those co-ops grew into thriving businesses that could give back to their members in equity through shared ownership of their Co-op, cash back when there were profits to share and to their communities through sponsorship and other support.
Community support
When member-owners support their local Co-op, they're making it possible for their Co-op to give back to their community. Co-op donates to local organizations and charities, hosts fundraisers to help community groups, sponsors events and local facilities and so much more. Every year, local Co-ops give back through Fuel Good Day and Community Spaces, partnerships with Red Cross and other local programs.
Supporting our communities is a big part of what drives us – “Concern for community” is one of the seven co-operative principles – and your support is instrumental in allowing us to keep doing this.
