2025 Co-op Community Spaces recipients


This year, Co-op Community Spaces is investing a total of $1 million in 14 local projects in communities across Western Canada.


British Columbia
The funding will be used for the creation of an accessible trail, gardens, gazebo, seating and fire pit to enhance the new outdoor space.
The funding will support the installation of accessible entrance doors, helping make the historic Vernon Towne Theatre fully accessible for the first time in its 100-year history.
Alberta
The funding will be used to complete the building infrastructure for the new Greenview Regional AgriPlex, replacing the existing, aging space. The new facility will support local agriculture, provide multi-use space for community events and offer educational opportunities focused on sustainability and innovation.
This funding will help provide accessible physical fitness opportunities for the entire community by supporting the purchase and install of multiple pods featuring accessible fitness equipment, a track, outdoor seating and games tables to enhance the site’s offerings.
The funding will be used to build a brand-new changing room and construct a two-storey building for an announcer’s booth to house timing equipment, to be used for football, soccer and rugby and building community connection through sports.
The Market Square project will provide local food producers and local artisans with a no-cost venue to showcase their products year-round. The Community Spaces funding will be used to purchase market sheds, solar panels, lighting and a covered stage.
Saskatchewan
The funding will be used to upgrade facilities as part of this vital community hub, including the midway, concession area, main building and grandstand.
The funding will be used to purchase the equipment and support installation costs of a new play structure and surface beneath, making the space more accessible to offer safer play conditions and ease of wheelchair access.
The funding will go towards building a safe, inclusive playground for 900 students and the community to enjoy, serving as a shared space for learning, play and family gatherings.
This space is intended to bring awareness to Truth and Reconciliation, and to demonstrate the importance of keeping nature healthy. The funding will be used for an outdoor learning space which will include a gazebo, medicine wheel, table, benches and more.
The new pathway will be connected to the Home Fire Family Centre and serve to improve the mental, emotional, spiritual and physical wellbeing of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. The funding will be used toward the site prep, top dressing and installation of a fire pit.
Manitoba
The funding will be used to purchase playground equipment for a unique inclusive, accessible recreational space, promoting physical, mental and social well-being.
As part of the final phase of a four-phase playground enhancement project, the Community Spaces funding will help with the purchase and installation of accessible and inclusive play equipment and accessible surfacing.
The funding will go towards capital construction costs for a new indoor pool for area, providing a space for swimming lessons and recreational opportunities.
